Born in Bristol RI in 1848 was Great Grandson of John Brown, The Founder of Brown University. His namesake General Nathanael Green, was the Guest of Honor of his Great Grandfather, at what is said to have been the largest dinner party ever held in the state of Rhode Island
Nathanael Green Herreshoff was the greatest Yacht and Marine designer, and builder that America has ever produced. He developed more new techniques, products ,and designs of boats, and for boats than any other man. No boat produced today could be done so without the influence of this man. Throw in the influences of his brother J.B., his son L. Francis, his employees and associates, with names like Burgess,and Stevens and the accomplishments are staggering.
